What to expect…

The NYPE course is unique in its approach to percussionists, literally putting them centre stage, so prepare to be very busy! Members will play in a mixture of ensembles, from smaller quartets to full percussion ensemble and Drumline. Alongside this there will be masterclasses focussing on orchestral percussion, timpani, world percussion, drum kit, west end playing and audition techniques with a Head of Department from a London Conservatoire. Music will be sent out in advance so that players can prepare, but there will also be time on the course for personal practise as we know all too well how difficult it can be to access instruments. The course culminates with a concert on the last day, where family, friends and the public are invited to witness the amazing music making of the UK’s premiere young percussionists.

This year’s course will take place at the prestigious Specialist Music School, Wells Cathedral School. With state-of-the-art facilities, instruments and a tutoring team of the UK’s finest percussionists it is set to be the best course yet! Set in the historic town of Wells, NYPE members will stay on the oldest inhabited street in Europe a mere 2 minutes from the rehearsal venue, maximizing rehearsal and downtime. Alongside this, members will have access to the fantastic leisure and sporting activities at Wells, as well as the award-winning food at mealtimes.
